Betty Lou Myrick Guillory, 82, passed away on March 16, 2025, in Dayton, Texas. Born on January 1, 1943, in Liberty, Texas, Betty was the daughter of William Henry Myrick and Alta Mae Gray. A lifelong resident of Liberty, she had called Dayton home for the past three years.
Betty’s career began as a talented cook and waitress at Walker’s Café in Liberty, where her love of cooking shone through. Over the years, she worked at several local diners, including the Rainbow Café, Nina’s Diner, and Kountry Kitchen. Even after retiring two years ago, Betty’s passion for cooking never waned.
In her younger days, Betty was always on the go, riding her bike from Ames to Anahuac for camping trips and embarking on spontaneous trips well into her later years. She enjoyed watching westerns, game shows, and soap operas, and could often be found playing bingo. Betty cherished her time with family and loved her fur babies, Gypsy, Oaklee, and D-Bo. It was not uncommon for her to be found in her recliner, surrounded by her three pups, who often found a cozy spot in her lap.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Lester Myrick, Billy Foster Smith, Juanita Nugent, Lizzie LeBlanc, Dollie Olson; children, Hugh Cruse "Trey" Pike III, Kimberly Annette Holder, Richard Dwayne Pike; and grandchild, Coby Holder.
She is survived by her sons, James Fregia and wife Kathy, Charles Holder, Lloyd Holder and wife Windy; daughters, Vanassa Fregia and husband Stoney; brothers, Curtis Myrick, Charles Myrick; sister, Mary Parker and husband Jessie; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and other family members who will forever remember her warmth and love.
A visitation will be held on March 18, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, with a service to follow on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Olyn Hendricks will officiate the service. Pallbearers will include Trey Pike, Trey Wilson, Florencio Espino, Stoney Fregia, Jason Nugent, Johnny Fregia, with honorary pallbearers Steven Fregia and James Tousha.
Betty will be deeply missed, but her love, joy, and memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
