Betty Ann Gillespie Lewis, 92, of Dayton passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019 in Houston. She was born August 8, 1926 in Electra, Texas to parents Robert Edward Gillespie and Queen Anne Tillery Gillespie.

Betty was the youngest child of Robert and Queen Anne Gillespie, who were followers of Jesus. So, she chose to believe in Jesus and followed Him faithfully all her life.

At College she met and married Morris Lee Lewis. He was a teacher, coach and pastor. They were blessed by God with three children. Betty was a homemaker until Theresa went to school. She worked at Foley’s and then a Methodist bookstore. O, how she loved books! She worked ten years at Southwestern Bell Telephone in Houston. After retirement, she moved to Dayton. Betty had the skill of sewing and made many dresses for her girls. She enjoyed making quilts for her family, each child has a quilt or two to remember Grandma’s love for them.

Betty had cancer about 20 years ago. She loved and had compassion for people who were hurting. To encourage others to trust in the Great Physician, she began to make small lap quilts. She quilted to the day she had a stroke and went home to heaven.
