Bette Joyce Hart Greer

          Bette Joyce Hart Greer, 82, passed away at home peacefully on January 3, 2012, in Cleveland, Texas.  She was born in Chandler, Texas, on September 7, 1929, to Raymond and Bernice Hart.  Mrs. Greer became a registered nurse in 1950, and she worked at hospitals in Surphur Springs and Cleveland, Texas.  Her most rewarding work was the position in Cleveland ISD as an elementary school nurse.  She was a devoted wife and mother, serving faithfully at First Baptist Church, and enjoyed her many friendships made during the years.  Working with the Woman’s Club kept her busy and a way to give back to the community.           Mrs. Greer was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Robert.  She is survived by her daughters Kathy and husband Bob Dillow of McAllen, Karen and husband Don Bockhorn of Houston, and son Ken and wife Joanne Greer of Katy.  Mrs. Greer was very proud of her 7 grandchildren, Scott and Jon Dillow, Nick, Brent, and Will Bockhorn, and Kayla and Kyle Greer, and 3 great-grandchildren Caleigh, Ashleigh, and Travis Dillow.           Family visitation will be at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland from 6-9 on Thursday January 5, 2012.  Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 6 at First Baptist Church of Cleveland (400 West Hanson).  Interment will follow on Sunday at the Shooks Chapel Cemetery, Sulphur Springs, Texas.  The family request in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation The Houston and Southeast Texas Chapter 2242 West Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030 or call 713-314-1313.
