Barbara Mcdowell

Barbara McDowell, age 76 of Coldspring, Texas, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017. She was born November 9, 1940 in Snyder, Texas to parents Sam and Ruth Martin who preceded her in death along with her brother, Robert Martin; and sister, Margaret Hester.

Barbara loved to cook and travel the world. She worked as a landman in the oil and gas industry. She did a great deal of service work and loved to read. She was the chair of the Book Club at the Methodist Church in Coldspring, a volunteer at Care Share in Coldspring, and original and former member of the Women’s Business Support Network of Houston. She formerly owned BJ’s Texas Café in Coldspring for a brief period.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Joel McDowell; sons, Robert Ball and wife Sherri, Mark Ball and wife Susan, and Lance Ball; step-sons, David McDowell and wife Gina, and Dale McDowell; step-daughter, Deanna Cervenka and husband Tommy; grandchildren, Chad, Misty, Sloan and Martin; step-grandchildren, Michelle, Kevin and Kianna; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Coldspring, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Coldspring United Methodist Church, Coldspring, Texas.
