Barbara Lee Walker Pruitt, 76, of Dayton passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018 in Liberty. She was born September 14, 1941 in Cleveland to parents Alf Walker and Opal Williams Walker.
Service for Barbara will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 14, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Dayton with Rev. Randy Piatt officiating. The family will receive friends 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park Cemetery.
Barbara was a lifelong resident of Dayton. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church for over 50 years where she taught Sunday school. She had worked at Dayton State Bank, Pruitt’s House of Beauty, and Bea’s Boutique. She was a member of the Dayton Young Homemakers and volunteered at Heritage Villa. Barbara was a wonderful wife, mother and a very doting grandmother. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing special meals for her family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Glenn Pruitt; son, Michael Pruitt; brothers-in-law, Chuck Conner and Elmer Pruitt; sister-in-law, Neta Walker. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Hicks and husband William of Dayton; grandchildren, Samantha Kimball, Jennifer Sanchez and husband Louis, Casey Hicks, and Caylin Hicks; great-grandchild, Georgia Sanchez; brothers, Winifred Walker and wife Jeanette of Dayton, Jimmy Walker of Dayton, and Tommy and wife Rose of Mont Belvieu; sisters. Marie Conner of Dayton and Wilene Walker of Dayton; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
