Barbara Kay Starkey Haltom, 63, of Dayton died Wednesday, November 14, 2012, in Houston, Texas. Barbara was born July 19, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents, Richard Lee Starkey and Evelyn Catherine Cramer Starkey. She had been a resident of Dayton for over 37 years where she and her husband Tony raised their family. Barbara was a graduate of the Jesse Jones High School class of 1967 and worked for the United States Postal Service for over 38 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed being with her family, was a selfless, caring person who always put others’ needs ahead of her own. Her positive attitude and strength was an inspiration to many. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother: Betty Ann Starkey and husband Tony Haltom. She is survived by her children: Richard Haltom of Dayton; Amy Moreau and husband Gary of Dayton; Allen Haltom of Dayton; her grandchildren: Emma Haltom, Kindal Moreau, Aubrey, Covin, & Harper Carroll; sisters: Sandy Louviere of Dayton, Marie Reeves of Conroe, Taunya Offdenkamp of Upton, Wyoming, Mikki Gray of Haugan, Montana; brothers: Edward Starkey of Houston and Terry Ammon of Metter, Georgia; her mother-in-law: Marie Haltom of Crosby; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, November 19, 2012, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, or charity of choice. “I have finished my work, I now take my rest. Don’t weep for me, The Lord knows best. If anyone should ask of my whereabouts, tell them I am resting in my Father’s House.â€
