McNair, 84, of Dayton died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at his home. He was born June 17, 1926 in Houston, Texas to parents, Asa Edmund and Mary Elizabeth Brown McNair, graduated from Pasadena High School in 1943, and later continued his education at Lee College and University of Houston. Asa served during World War II in the Army Air Corps and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He worked at Shell Oil for 40 years, retiring in 1987.  Asa was a pilot, enjoyed painting, and the outdoors, especially hunting, and fishing. Most of all he loved being with his family and friends. Memorial Service for Asa will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, Dayton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Asa was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marguerite Wagers. He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Gytha Rusk McNair of Dayton; his children: Mark McNair and wife Jerri of Burleson, Karen McNair Fosburgh and husband Rick of Dayton, and Craig McNair and wife Lisa of Dayton; brother: Edmund “Snooks” McNair of San Augustine; ten grandchildren: Paula, Matthew, Kristen, Erin, Meredith, Claire, David, Molly, Emily and Katie; four great-grandchildren: Adryan, Caitlin, Taelor, and Lexi.;  also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
