Anna Lou Cowart

Anna Lou Cowart was a caring and devoted mother and grandmother and a kind and generous friend to all she knew. She loved her mother and father and demonstrated this wonderful trait to her children which was returned to her and her husband as her sons grew. She will be missed and always be loved. 

Anna Lou was born August 24, 1933 in Livingston, Texas to parents, John Homer Guthrie and Berta May Dabney Guthrie. She passed away on June 19, 2024 in The Woodlands, Texas at the age of 90. 

Anna Lou was a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Texas and was employed by Cleveland ISD for 49 years as a campus and later district level data analyst. She was very proud of her time and service to the students of the school district.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, John and Berta Guthrie; her husband of 64 years, Billy Black Cowart; her beloved son, Byron Blake Cowart. She is survived by her beloved son, John Kerry Cowart and his wife Lisa Rector Cowart of The Woodlands, Texas; daughter-in-law, Ruth Palm Cowart of Montgomery, Texas; sister, Sue Annette Hill of Magnolia, Texas; grandchildren, Annamarie Cowart, Gabrielle Cowart, Madison Cowart, and Jacob Cowart. 

A graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Oakhurst, Texas with Pastor Reagan Cooksey officiating.
