Anita L. Ware Rutland, 71, of Dayton, died Sunday, July 28, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 1, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Anita was born October 4, 1941 in Baton Rouge, LA, to parents; Harold V. Ware and Evelyn Rogers, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in Dayton for the past 14 years. She was a graduate of Denham Springs High School, received her Associate Degree from the International Christian Institute, a retired substance abuse counselor for the TDCJ after 14 years of employment, and a member of the Community Christian Church. She enjoyed children’s church, thrifting, and other church activities. Mrs. Rutland was preceded in death by her father: Harold V. Ware, mother: Evelyn Rogers Cook, stepfather: Jim Cook, brothers: Melvin B. and Pat. B. Haley, sister: Hazel Haley Cotton, grandson: Jonathan Sexton, and son-in-law: Bill Sexton. She is survived by her husband of 44 years: Rev. Daniel S. Rutland of Dayton, daughter: Michelle Sexton of Hardin, sons: Garrick Rutland and wife Lilly of Rye and Scott Rutland and wife Karla of Tomball, sisters: Diane Ware Lemay of LA< Sandra Ware Simoneaux of LA, Janice Cook Copeland of FL, Helen Cook Guillory of Crosby, Jackie Cook Parrish of FL, and Jimmie Cook Chandler of LA, brother: Gerald W. Buttry of LA, aunt: Louise Delaune of LA, grandchildren: Garrick Rutland, Jr., Justin Rutland, Brittney Rutland, Mark Sexton, Stephanie Vollert, Taylor Rutland, Caitlyn Rutland, and Ashton Rutland, granddaughters-in-law: Hallie Ullrich and Ashley Partan, great-grandchildren: Aiden Rutland, Emma Rutland, Kyle Vollert, and Cody Sims, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
