Andrew "Andy" A. Dunn, a beloved figure in his community, passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2024, at the age of 99. Born on August 12, 1925, in Simmons Bottom, Andy was a lifetime resident of the Simmons Bottom and Dayton area, where he made lasting memories and contributions that would shape his community.

 Andy built his career as a heavy equipment operator and later retired from Sterling Oil Bulk Plant in Dayton. He was an enterprising spirit who not only operated machinery but also crafted joy for everyone by building swings through his venture, Swings of Texas. A talented wood craftsman, Andy took great pride in his work, reflecting both skill and dedication.

 A proud member of the Dayton High School Class of 1942, Andy carried the values of his education throughout his life. He was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Dayton, where he shared his life’s journey with fellow congregants.

 He is survived by his sisters, Mozelle Prater and Dee Hendrick, and his loyal, best friend, Mike Griggs along with numerous nieces, nephews family and friends. In this time, the family wishes to offer special thanks to his caregivers, Julie Barnard, Brenda Moody, and Brenda Mallett, whose support and compassion enriched Andy’s final years.

 Andy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorthy "Dottie" Batten Dunn, his parents, Auzy Otto Dunn and Katie Norine Spraker Dunn, and his siblings: sisters Rose Holt and Sunny Latz, along with brothers Richter L. Dunn and Dan C. Dunn. Each of these individuals played a significant role in shaping his life and will be remembered fondly.

 The family will hold a visitation on October 2, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton followed by a funeral service beginning at 10:00 AM officiated by Rev. Mike Griggs. A graveside service will take place at Weldon Cemetery at 3:00 PM. commemorating a life rich in love, family, and lasting contributions to the community.

 Andrew "Andy" A. Dunn will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts and memories of his family and friends.
