Alta Joyce Jeffcoat, 83 of Crosby died Thursday, August 09, 2012 in Houston. She was born May 13, 1929 in Cleveland, Texas to parents John Tollie and Cassie Walker Purswell. A lifelong resident of this area, she attended Tarkington Schools and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crosby. Mrs. Jeffcoat took great pride in loving her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Jeffcoat will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene Talbot officiating. Interment will follow at Boothe Cemetery in Tarkington. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years, Royal Ottis Jeffcoat, son, Roy Douglas Jeffcoat and 10 siblings. She is survived by her children: Peggy Barron and husband John of Crosby, Bity Speir and husband Blackie of Crosby, and Lanny Jeffcoat and wife Cindy of Crosby; grandchildren: Christina Jeffcoat, Scott Jeffcoat, Holly Jeffcoat, J.T. Barron, Jason Barron, Missy Barron, Hunter Barron, Melissa Jenkins, Elizabeth Winn, Mindy Weaver, Donnie Speir, Clayton Speir, Jeremy Dueitt, Lacy Dueitt, Cassie Dykes, and Ethan Jeffcoat; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
