Alphene Richter

Alphene Paden Richter, 98, of Dayton passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in Liberty, Texas. She was born August 18, 1914 in Clintonville, Pennsylvania to parents, Raymond Paden and Nancy DeWoody Paden. Mrs. Richter graduated from the Hotel Dieu Hospital School of Nursing in Beaumont in 1935. She met Dr. E.R. Richter while in nursing school and they married in 1936. Mrs. Richter was devoted member of the First United Methodist Church where she will always be remembered through her gift of the Richter Family Hand-Bells. She was the first school nurse for Dayton Schools, a member of the Woman’s Club, the Priscilla Club, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Texas Medical Association, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Liberty County Medical Association, and Order of the Eastern Star. She also was past Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls. Service for Mrs. Richter will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 22, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, Dayton with Rev. Jon Stouffer officiating. Arrangement are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Mrs. Richter was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 44 years, her daughter, Margel A. Richter Monahan, her grandson, Roland Scott Roberts, and all but one of her siblings. She is survived by her son, E. R. “Sonny” Richter, Jr. and wife Tish of Dayton; her grandchildren, Robyn Richter Kline and husband Allyn of Dayton, E. R. “Bubba” Richter, III and wife Nancy of Dayton, Ernest Richard "Rusty" Roberts of Austin, Kristi Roberts Schuepbach and husband Ken of San Antonio; great-grandsons: Roland Scott Roberts, Chris Conner, Hunter Richter, Jack Samuel Schuepbach, and Matt Kline and wife Megan; also numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 505, Dayton, Texas 77535, the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department or the charity of your choice.
