Alisa “Dachelle” (Harris) Brown, 52, passed away on October 4, 2021. She was born in Houston, Texas on May 23, 1969 to Roy and Alice Harris.
She spent her 8th grade year in Gruver, Texas, but lived in Huffman, Texas for the majority of her childhood. She attended Huffman Hargrave High school, graduating in 1987. She received a full four year scholarship to Houston Baptist University, by winning the Texas Baptist Better Speakers Competition and later transferred to Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. Dachelle met Barry Brown at Whispering Meadows Baptist Church in Dayton and they married on June 23, 1990. They resided in Baytown, Dayton and finally moved to Huffman in 2008. Dachelle was a music teacher at Kimmie Brown in Dayton and then taught at Humble Christian School. Later, she worked at the Huffman Middle School as a receptionist and AP secretary. She then moved over to the Hargrave High School as AP secretary and finally became the school registrar. She has also served in many capacities as a music teacher at various churches and as a Sunday School teacher. She was an avid musician, singer and piano teacher. She served in and led numerous choir programs, praise teams and was the church pianist at First Baptist Church Huffman. But her most precious gift was being a mom to her 3 children, which she extended to all the students that she worked around and to anyone who crossed her path. From the very beginning of her battle with cancer she decided to "Choose Joy" as her theme, each and every day. Her kindness, compassion and musical talents touched the hearts and lives of many people. She always exemplified joy, hope and love.
Dachelle is survived by her husband of 31 years, Barry; two daughters, Carri and Christy; a son, Casey and wife Shelby; granddaughter Olivia; parents, Roy and Alice Harris; brothers, David Harris and wife Sharon; Dean Harris and wife Connie; Doug Harris and wife Mona; and “claimed sister” Claudia Woods, along with numerous other relatives.
Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Huffman, Texas at 10am on October 8, 2021, with a visitation just prior at 9am. Immediately following the service the interment will take place at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton, TX.
The family is indebted to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who died for our sins. We are extremely grateful to the Huffman community, Huffman school administration/staff/teachers, church family at First Baptist Church Huffman and many friends for their compassion, caring and healing comfort. We also want to recognize all those who have given blood, “The gift of Life,” on our and many other's behalf. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to MD Anderson, in the fight against cancer or to the Blood bank in your area.
