Alice Smyth Lakavage, age 85 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2019. She was born December 6, 1933 in Meadville, Pennsylvania to parents Reginald Roy and Marjorie Brett Smyth who preceded her in death along with her husband, Martin Joseph Lakavage; daughter, Anna Lakavage; and brother, Fred Smyth.
Alice was a long-time resident of Cleveland, Texas and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She loved to volunteer for various organizations such as the Girl Scouts and the Cleveland Senior Citizen Center. In her spare time Alice loved to bowl, crochet, knit, and sew.
Survivors include her daughters, Annette Stevens, Norma Lakavage and husband Darren Rogers, Alice Newland and husband Will, Dorothy Hull and husband Mark, Laura Lakavage, and Roberta Lakavage; brothers, Roy Edwin Smyth, and Norman Smyth and wife Jeanie; sister, Muriel King and husband Hank; grandchildren, Martin Lakavage and wife Katie, Mark Stevens, Max Lakavage, Olivia Johnson, April Regan and husband David, and Matthew Johnson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2019, at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
After the interment, there will be a reception at the Cleveland Senior Citizens Center, 220 Peach Ave., Cleveland, Texas 77327.
