Alice Faye Wells

Alice Faye Hamm Wells, 77 of Dayton went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 29, 2019 in Baytown, Texas. She was born April 5, 1942 in Italy, Texas to parents Dennis Franklin Hamm and Carrie Odean Richardson Hamm.

Service for Alice will be 6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Dayton Assembly of God Church. The family will receive friends 2:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. before the service on Thursday evening. A private family burial will be held at Palms Memorial Park Cemetery.

Alice was a longtime resident of Dayton after moving from Baytown. She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in 1960. She married the love of her life, Clyde B. “Benny” Wells in 1961 and began their life traveling while Benny was serving in the Navy. After settling in Dayton, Alice began volunteering with the American Red Cross and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year in 1997. She was a longtime member of Dayton First Assembly where she worked as secretary and treasurer for many years and was a leader and teacher in the Missionette and the Royal Ranger programs. Alice enjoyed traveling and went on many cruises with Benny. They also have made memories through the years with their travels in the United States, whether it was just the two of them or with family members. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Clyde B. “Benny” Wells of Dayton; son, Denny Wells and wife Tammy of Baytown; daughters, LaRhonda Freeman and husband Larry of Cleburne and Salonika Alexander of Dayton; grandchildren, Amanda Wells, Adam Wells, Ashley Wells, Tra Neuman, Heather Neuman, Erica Yarbro, Brookelyn Davidson, and Kearston Davidson; great-grandchildren, Josiah Wells, Elijah Williams, Paityn White, Chloe White, Brantley White, Micah Yarbro, Gideon Yarbro and Arwen Yarbro; sister, Carolyn Atkins of Baytown, also numerous other relatives and friends.
