Abelardo Rodriguez, 76, Galena Park, died Friday, March 14, 2014, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston. Abelardo was born February 7, 1938 in China Nuevo Leon, Mexico to parents Miguel Rodriguez and Josefina Gonzalez He has been a resident of Galena Park and Dayton. He was a retired carpenter, catholic by faith, and enjoyed singing, dancing, and the outdoors. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 17, 2014, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Liberty, Texas with burial following at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday and from 10:00 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Pallbearers will be Xavier Rodriguez, Gerardo Rodriguez, Felipe Garcia, Francisco Alvarez, Fernando Leal, Alejandro Gonzalez, Antonio Garza and Efrain Garza. Mr. Rodriguez was preceded in death by his father: Miguel Rodriguez, mother: Josefina Gonzalez Rodriguez, brother: Abel Rodriguez, and grandson: Eduardo Garza. He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Socorro Salinas Rodriguez of Galena Park, children: Guadalupe Rodriguez of Dallas, Xavier Rodriguez of Dallas, Silvia Rodriguez of Houston, Josefina Rodriguez of Dallas, Gerardo Rodriguez of Houston, Yolanda Rodriguez of Houston, Sonia Rodriguez of Houston, and Araceli Rodriguez of Houston, sisters: Argelia Rodriguez of Mission and Armandina Rodriguez, 26 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
