Rex L. "Papa Smurf" Hutchins, Sr., 73, of Kenefick, died Saturday, November 15, 2014, at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.Rex was born October 15, 1941 in Minden, Louisiana, to parents; Johnny W. "J.W." and Adelia E. Harrison Hutchins, a former resident of Channelview, and has resided in Kenefick for the past 39 years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, member of the Simmons Bottom Assembly of God Church, and a retired boiler maker. He also enjoyed mud racing, collecting, tinkering, and will be remembered as a jack of all trades.Mr. Hutchins was preceded in death by his parents and great-granddaughter: Aubrei Cook. He is survived by his wife of 54 years: JoAnn M. Juneau Hutchins of Kenefick, daughter: Sandy Chandler and husband Clint of Kenefick, sons: David Hutchins and wife Paige of Kenefick, Donny Hutchins and wife Elizabeth of Kenefick, Rex Hutchins, Jr. and wife Leslie of Kenefick, and Jimmy Hutchins and wife Anna of Kenefick, sister: Elise Hutchins of Louisiana, brothers: John A.
